North Island Regional Hui 2023

We are still savouring all the learnings, experiences and connections created in Tauranga last week at our North Island Hui.

It was really special bringing together such an amazing group of people doing crucial mahi to support our communities and care for te taiao. Special thanks to the team at Envirohub BOP for being such outstanding hosts.

We had two fun days full of learning and exchanges at the Envirohub BOP amazing new building. We got to share our new theory of change developed with The Ākina Foundation with our 16 hubs in Te Ika-a-Māui, hear Amy Tankard from Do Good Jobs (NZ) share some great insights on values-based management, learn more about the local tangata whenua and the Tiwaiwaka movement from Rob McGowan, patron of Envirohub BOP. There were also round tables and lots of opportunities to share projects, notes and anecdotes. Arohanui West and Esther Whitehead shared their insights about the Funders Commitment for Climate Action, Stephen Selwood talked about dynamic road pricing, and Marty Hoffart shared some updates on the National Recycling Programme and WasteMINZ.

For us at Environment Hubs Aotearoa, it is so valuable to be able to connect in person with our hubs' teams and we always come away with lots of ideas and a list of actions to help support them better. We hope all attendees gained from the experience and came away feeling positive and inspired!

Big mihi to our speakers, our hosts, our dream team, our dedicated board, our great caterers from The Hidden Truffle, and all attendees for making the effort to be there! 😀
