Sustainable Taranaki
Taranaki Sustainable Backyards Trail visitors soak in the sun and permaculture sites at Greenbridge where they learn about regenerative agriculture, native planting, and using water in the landscape
Ko te āhua o te taiao tētahi wakarerenga ka waihotia ake tātou ki ngā reanga whakaheke, Sustainable Taranaki supports all people of Taranaki to embrace their part in building vibrant communities and a healthy environment for future generations.
A global case study for sustainable well-being at a regional level, our Trust shows how a culture of kaitiakitanga can transform behaviours that affect economic, social, and environmental sustainability. Our key pillars of focus are promoting healthy whenua, supporting vibrant cities and communities, and building resilient food systems. We do this through strengthening existing partnerships with tangata whenua, local businesses, and organisations that share our kaupapa.
Our programmes include The Taranaki Sustainable Backyards Trail, Educational Tours and Workshops for the Junction Zero Waste Hub, Let’s Compost, Community Gardens, Te Ara Taiao, and Zero Waste Events.
